Brothers in law Daniel Hartwig and Theo Engela are the latest generation of the pioneering Chaffey family to dedicate themselves to the cause of Australian wine. The original ‘Chaffey Brothers’ were Canadian irrigation scheme specialists who arrived in Australia from San Francisco in the 1880’s and set about the task of transforming the townships of Renmark and Mildura into modern day oasis and vibrant wine regions.
Joined by Barossa lad and young-gun winemaker Huon Fechner, the Chaffey Bros. Wine Co. team approach the task of making Barossa wine with balanced consideration for both the history and new possibilities of the Barossa wine landscape, as well as a deep seated desire to produce balanced wines of exceptional ‘drinkability’. They feel no need to subscribe to the usual way of doings things, which is reflected in the names and distinctive packaging of their wines. Experimentation and a low intervention approach to winemaking is actively encouraged, with the only caveat being to ensure each Chaffey Bros. wine is delicious and supremely tasty.
This is a serious 'grown-up' Rose! 70-year-old Grenache vines + Mourvèdre from the Heinrich vineyard on Trial Hill Road in the Barossa Valley. Wild fermented and matured in Leroi & Ermitage French oak puncheons. Minimal intervention winemaking bottled unfined. A richer and definitely provides a lingering finish!
When it needs to be cold, fresh and vibrant. Easy on the acid, lashings of lemon and lime and most certainly not sweet! Not like your Grandma's at all!
A true Rose built for immediate (and dare we say it) semi-regular drinking! Base varietals of Grenache and Mourvedre are a solid base. A punched up aromatic from a slippery add of Gewurztraminer means we have a wine that is definitely 'not your Grandma's!

Düfte Punkt is an aromatic paradigm-shift. A seamless single-vineyard blend of spicy Gewürztraminer, precise Riesling and textural Kerner (Weißer Herold). Striking lychee and turkish delight aromas introduce a complex palate showing lychees, mandarins, minerality and a lingering powder-puff of florals.
A clever piece of decision making saw 400 bottles of this deemed age-worthy riesling put aside with the intention to release it 5 years down the track and that time is now! Goodness me! What a result!
An ostentatious aromatic explosion! Bursting with turkish delight and rose petal, however so gently complicated with a touch of skin contact for added mouthfeel. Rippingly great wine!
100% Kerner (A.K.A. Weißer Herold) from the revered Fechner Bros’ vineyard in the Northern Eden Valley. The Kerner grape is a 1929 cross-breed of Riesling and Vernatsch. Graeme and Michael Fechner brought cuttings to their Eden Valley vineyard in 2001 following a research trip to Germany.
In the last few years, we have incorporated the Fechner Bros’ Kerner into our aromatic blend “Düfte Punkt”, cofermenting it with Riesling and Gewürztraminer from the same vineyard. “Kontrapunkt” however is the first wine we have made solely out of Kerner grapes and is Australia’s (and the Southern Hemisphere's) only 100% varietal Kerner!

La Conquista! pitches Tempranillo and Garnacha on the attack, ruffling feathers amongst the Barossa Old Guard varieties of French descent. The original Spanish spelling of Barrosa honours the original name given to our Barossa Valley by Colonel Light who fought in the 1811 battle.
Superbarossa is the Barossa’s super-Tuscan… the classic Australian red blend. Claret! The backbone of this wine is Shiraz and Cabernet from the meticulously managed vineyard of James Ehrat on Krondorf Road. Additional barrels are included from Shiraz vineyards in the Northern Barossa and Cabernet from Eden Valley. Matured for 18 months in French hogshead barrels. Minimal intervention winemaking bottled unfined & unfiltered.
Single Vineyard Eden Valley Syrah from a dry-grown vineyard set on the Drögemüller family’s original Springton orchard. Highly perfumed it shows wild forest berries & white pepper aromas and a complex palate of fresh Blackberries, peppercorns and refreshing Morello cherries.
