From crisp dry Rosés to Shiraz with some serious structure and all the delights of Grenache inbetween.
The range of reds available shows the full spectrum of styles available here at Artisans of Barossa.
John's aim with Plexus is to express the wide spectrum of red fruit flavours from Shiraz, Grenache and Mourvèdre and also provide structure with a seamless balance and long finish. Traditional, low intervention winemaking techniques are employed allowing the wine to be approachable in its youth, but also cellar for 8-10 years.
The idea of blending Shiraz from the Eastern and Western extremities of the Barossa make perfectly good sense. The ripe plum, blackberry and white chocolate flavours of the Western Barossa Valley integrate perfectly with the perfumed red fruits, liquorice and spice of the Eastern Eden Valley, coming together to produce a delicious, rich, flavoursome and ultimately beautifully balanced wine.
This is the ultimate way to enjoy John Duval's premier Red - Eligo. This pack contains 2 bottles each of 2008, 2009 and 2010 releases.
Each of these wines is the best of vintage from John Duval.
Made from a blend of vineyards located across the eastern Barossa foothills, Moppa and Eden Valley, the wine displays plenty of deep, plush dark black fruit
Deep garnet in colour with a brooding complex aroma of dark cherry, plums and roasted vanillin bean. The palate is powerful and well structured, fleshy, with chewy textured tannins finishing with polish and focus. An exceptional Barossa vintage, this wine will mature well for many years.
The PUMPA is a blend of Eden Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Tempranillo varieties. Named as a
tribute to Len PUMPA and his fellow Eden Valley Vignerons who pioneered and persisted in one of Australia’s
most challenging but rewarding viticultural regions.
Eden Valley had a mix of British and continental European settlers that tried their hand at grape-growing.
When times were tough particularly in the 1920s many turned away from viticulture, however the Prussian
settlers like Len PUMPA persisted in the face of difficulty, preserving the vineyard resources we are
custodians of today.
Meta Shiraz is a great divergance from the traditional full throtle Barossan Shiraz. It's juicy, medium bodied and lighter in pallet weight and very very drinkable!
Grenache from Pete Schell is always distinctive! His talent with the varioety is truly sensational. This bright youthful Grenache will be sure to please.
Barossa winemakers have developed a strong affinity for all things Spain and as expected our Artisans have been at the Vanguard of experimentation with these emerging varieties.
What better resume than a 130 year old vineyard, planted and owned by the one family and is just 400 vines big. Unctious, bold, gorgeously soft tannins and a complex melody of bakery spices.
