Eden Valley Discovery Pack
Each Discovery Pack contains one of the following wines
Sons of Eden ‘Cirrus’ High Eden Riesling 2017 (rrp$60)
Few would argue this wine’s claims to being amongst a handful of the very best Australian Riesling, and we’ve been fortunate to retain a small allocation from the winery. Impeccable balance of the three essential elements of great Riesling – intense lime fruit, a fine line of acid and a touch of complexing minerality. A wine for now, and definitely a wine for the cellar.
Artisans of Barossa Eden Valley Riesling 2018 (rrp$25)
With demand for quality Eden Valley Riesling as strong as it has ever been, we were fortunate to coax wine for this exclusive bottling from Corey Ryan at Sons of Eden. Plush in character, but with trademark acidity to keep things crisp and refreshing. A perfect drink for a sunny day.
Max & Me Eden Valley Riesling 2018 (rrp$30)
Phil Lehmann learned the art of making Riesling from the very best – Louisa Rose at Yalumba, Andrew Wigan at Peter Lehmann Wines and from John Vickery, arguably the patron saint of Australian Riesling. The quality of the tutorage shows in this wine that appears under Phil and Sarah’s own label Max & Me. An incredible explosion of Riesling fruit character balanced by salivating acidity. A yet to be discovered superstar of Eden Valley Riesling.
Max & Me Eden Valley Shiraz 2012 (rrp $65)
Yes folks – two thousand and twelve vintage. One of the great vintages of all time, and we were lucky to have secured a tiny allocation from Phil and Sarah. Eden Valley Shiraz is more athletic than Barossa Valley Shiraz – a big strong wine with plenty of opulent flavours, but less of the flab around the girth. You can almost sense the muscles rippling under the skin! (Note: the wine has thrown a light crust so a pre-service decant is recommended)
Max & Me Eden Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2012 (rrp $65)
I don’t think there’s ever been any doubt about it – Eden Valley Cabernet will always trump Barossa Valley Cabernet. The higher altitude and cooler growing conditions of the Eden Valley give Cabernet the time it needs to fully develop and produce wines of exceptional flavour, structure and elegance. This is a rich and textural wine, showing plenty of ripe, dark fruits and chocolate with leather and earthiness. From a superb vintage, and again we’re so very fortunate to have secured a small allocation from the winery. (Note: the wine has thrown a light crust so a pre-service decant is recommended)
Massena ‘Stonegarden Vineyard’ Grenache Mataro Shiraz 2017 (rrp $70)
One of the most captivating wines tasted in 2018, from a vineyard that should be declared a national treasure. This is a big and bold red of almost impossibly deep and complex flavour. Enjoyed over a few days, the wine continues to reveal an ever-growing list of subtle flavour and aroma nuances. An exceptionally rare – and very exciting – wine.
