Each Artisans ‘Game of Rhones’ six-pack contains a bottle of each of the following great Rhone varietal wines:

2018 Hobbs of Barossa Ranges ‘Tin Lids’ Eden Valley Viognier (rrp $36)

A new vintage release of Viognier grown in the Hobbs’ own vineyard high up in the Barossa Ranges. Voluptuous aromas and flavours of stone fruit and ginger on the nose and palate – think apricot, peach and mango. Chardonnay like mouthfeel, with wines like this one excelling in maintaining a balance between lush fruit, chalk-like texture and refreshing acidity.

2018 John Duval Wines ‘Plexus’ Marsanne Rousanne Viognier (rrp $35)

A blend of 3 classic Rhone white wine varietals – 45% Marsanne and Roussanne, and 10% Viognier. Vibrant, lifted aromas of stone fruits, ginger honeysuckle and citrus. Elegant palate showing excellent fruit purity and ample texture. The Plexus white finishes dry with cleansing acidity singing out to be enjoyed with food.

2017 Schwarz Wine Co. Barossa Shiraz (rrp $35)

Jason Schwarz has been at the vanguard of a movement of small Barossa winemakers seeking more delicate expression in Shiraz. Whilst the overt sweetness and jamminess often associated with Shiraz from Barossa is gone, there still remains a lush palate of dark fruit and oh so smooth lines.

2017 Sons of Eden ‘Kennedy’ Grenache Shiraz Mourvédre (rrp $35)

The classic Rhone blend is also the classic Barossa blend. Bright, juicy and spicy Grenache takes the lead, with Shiraz the driving force of generosity. Mourvédre serves as both a counterweight to the ripe fruit forward flavours of the wine, adding an intriguing savoury tannin edge.

2016 Spinifex ‘Garcon’ Barossa Grenache (rrp $41)

Barossa winemakers now lead the way with Grenache in Australia, producing an enviable line up of award-winning expressions of this immensely enjoyable, mid-weight wine. If you think Barossa only does big and powerful, then let a wine like Garcon make you think again.

2016 Wednesday Night Wine Company Barossa Valley Shiraz (rrp $27)

Great aromas of dark spiced fruit fill the glass. The palate is lush with black fruits and chocolate, and the finish is long and smooth. A team effort from the Barossa with the aim to provide you with a great Wednesday night bottle of wine!
