Hobbs Tin Lids Red Offer
Each six-pack features 3 bottles each of
Hobbs 2018 Tins Lids Aria Secca Shiraz; and
If Grange can have a baby version in the form of Bin 389, then so can Hobbs’ momentous Gregor Shiraz – and here it is. Crafted in the same style as it ‘older brother’ Gregor, the fruit is handpicked before being placed on racks and semi-dried in the method of the famous Amarone wines of Italy. A load of spice on the nose that leads to a palate loaded with an exotic blend of red/ black/ blue fruits with hints of oak and smoked meat. This is an unctuous, luscious, generous and all-consuming red wine and great intensity, but balanced with velvety tannin structures and a lovely savoury finish. Drinks well now, will go really well in 10 years +.
Hobbs 2018 Tin Lids Shiraz Cabernet
The blending of Shiraz and Cabernet is an Australian wine tradition that can trace its foundations to the 1950s. Whether it was Mildara blending Coonawarra Cabernet with Barossa Shiraz, or Wolf Blass exchanging parcels of Langhorne Creek Cabernet with Murray Tyrell for Hunter Valley Shiraz, or the world Barossa blends made by Peter Lehmann at Saltram, the winemaking aim was always the same. For the luscious rounded flavours of Shiraz to blend seamlessly with the more perfumed, finely structured Cabernet Sauvignon to create a wine that was not only more enjoyable than the independent parts but could be enjoyed upon release or placed in the cellar for further maturation.
