2018 TIM SMITH WINES Viognier (RRP $30)
Tim’s time at Yalumba (who’ve led the band down the street in Australia with Viognier) opened his eyes to the possibilities of this classic Rhone varietal grown in the Barossa. His experience with the variety is obvious – a fine balance of voluptuous stone fruit like flavour over a platform of pith like texture and fine, bright acidity. A superb and flavoursome dry white
2018 TIM SMITH WINES Mataro Grenache Shiraz (RRP $30)
A switch on the traditional GSM order of things in this classic Barossa red blend. Savoury, meaty Mataro leads off providing ample structure, but in perfect harmony with the bright juiciness and spice of Grenache and the rich generous plushness of Shiraz. A complete and very tasty Barossa red wine
2018 TIM SMITH WINES ‘Bugalugs’ Grenache (RRP $30)
In the vein of Pete Schell’s Spinifex Papillon, a more mid-weight expression of old vine Barossa Grenache. Lovely bright red fruits and sprightly acidity make for a delicious, salivating drink that is just crying out for a plate of good charcuterie.
2018 TIM SMITH WINES ‘Bugalugs’ Shiraz (RRP $30)
It seems that every new release of a 2018 Barossa wine is met with an avalanche of orders – folk can’t seem to get enough of what’s been talked of as one of the great vintages of all time. This wine is in very tight supply, and Tim has very generously carved out a small allocation for Artisans of this great Barossa Shiraz.
2016 TIM SMITH WINES Barossa Shiraz (RRP $40)
Tim’s down to earth nature wins him many friends, and his now 30 years as a Barossa winemaker has allowed him to nurture a strong bond with a group of dedicated grape growers who are the backbone of his winery. The benefit of this is the supreme quality of his honest expressions of Shiraz, built literally from the ground up with the provenance and quality of the vineyards on displays in this outstanding wine
2015 TIM SMITH WINES Reserve Mataro (RRP $120)
If you know anything about Barossa wine, you’ll know that old vine Mataro is the best-kept secret going around. And if you know anything about Mataro, you’ll know that the 2015 vintage produced some of the best examples of the variety in a decade or more. And if you don’t know anything about Barossa Mataro, then this is the best introduction you’ll ever have this outstanding Barossa red wine. From one of the oldest Mataro vineyards on the planet (planted sometime back in the 1850’s), this is a rare and exceptional dry red wine.
