Welcome to Artisans of Barossa
"We will share with you everything we love about the Barossa."
The sixty year old Shiraz vines from Greenock that produced the original wine were ready to be uprooted due to the lack of yields and the reluctance of other companies to pay a premium for this excellent fruit. After repeated requests for access to these grapes, at 'the eleventh hour' our growers decided to stop the bulldozer and retain a small area of these vines.
72% Saperavi 16% Petite Sirah 12% Tannat
Early experimental batches of Petite Sirah (some as small as 120kg’s) produced wines that were rich and deep, but had pronounced tannins that caused tasters to release a slight howl as it crossed the palate.
A bone dry Rose in the classically Provencal style, elegant and complex. Finely aromatic and perfumed with high notes of both fresh and dried rose petals, chervil and pink grapefruit. Flavours mirror the aromatics and are fresh and delicate. Textural with a restrained roundness and fleshiness up front that draws out into a fine and focused finish with soft, yet fresh fruit acids.
Sourced from a single vineyard nestled high in the Barossa Ranges, just beneath the famed Steingarten Vineyard
Crafted from a range of old vine, dry grown Grenache and Cinsault, (90 years of age average) located in the east and far northern reaches of the Barossa Valley. Each vineyard is hand harvested when just ripe to ensure natural acids, freshness, spice and the fresher edgier tannins are preserved.
The PUMPA is a blend of Eden Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Tempranillo varieties. Named as a tribute to Len PUMPA and his fellow Eden Valley Vignerons who pioneered and persisted in one of Australia’s most challenging but rewarding viticultural regions.
The KENNEDY is a classic blend of old vine Barossa Valley Grenache, Shiraz and Mourvedre varieties. Named as a tribute to the legendary Barossa Vigneron’s who pioneered the planting of the old treasured vineyards, which the Barossa enjoys today. The Grenache fruit is the ‘soul’ of this blend and is from an exceptionally low yielding 50+ year-old Light Pass Vineyard. Originally planted by the Kennedy Family, with ownership eventually being passed onto the charismatic Leo ‘Joe’ KENNEDY who nurtured the vines for many years, selling his prized fruit to local winemakers.
